Did I ever mention that I bought an iPod several months ago, right before my Las Vegas trip? I don't remember. Well, I did. 50% because I haven't replaced my laptop and wanted a way to listen to music on airplanes; 50% because I'll use it as my primary music player at home.

See, what I used to do was stick 5 CDs in my CD changer, and listen to those endlessly in a loop because I was too lazy to change the CDs. (I would change them maybe once a month.) This got repetitive enough that I wouldn't really listen to music as much as I'd like to; as you will see from the stats below, this barely touched my collection. So now I'm a big convert to shuffle play. Sometimes I do it in album mode, so I can completely hear albums like I used to, but I probably more often just do full-on song-shuffling.

Anyway, before my Vegas trip, I ripped most of my favorite albums, about a third of my collection. Today, months later, I finally finished ripping all my CDs. Even the CDs I don't like.

159 artists, 361 albums, 4071 songs, 11.8 days, 18.27 GB. The artist count is slightly inflated from a couple of compilations; there are only 150 artist directories in my mp3 tree (which includes a few artist names twice due to different punctuation). Also, the tree has exactly one song I didn't rip myself ("Jackie"). I also don't have any of my own music on the iPod, either.
