I really like this awesome spoof of Poe's The Raven, which just overdoes the rhyming effect of the original while sticking to the original topic (most parodies adapt the form of the original to a new topic)1. In fact I linked to it here a year ago or so. The thing is, like all poems, it must be read out loud for proper effect. I imagine lots of people hesitate to do this, for some reason, perhaps for fear they will sound foolish--especially likely in this case.

So, here you go, I'll do it for you. You can even listen to it on your iPod in secret or something. mp3 of me, reading it. 1MB, length 2:25.

1 In fact, the original The Raven is actually already kind of humorous, since what happens in that is that the narrator, on finding this bird that just always says "nevermore", starts asking it leading questions knowing already what answer he's going to get. It starts out being funny but in the end he can't help but torture himself, so in the end it's sad, but still. All of that is missing from this spoof, which is much shorter.
