Because the standard libraries are burdened with stupid dependencies, multiple header files, annoying documentation licenses, and because they require writing wrappers to use conveniently (e.g. in games and other apps that just want to load some image data now), I bring you the first release of a public domainC source code library that reads JPEGs and PNGs (offered as a single 1800 line source file from which you must c&p the header file yourself). zlib is not required (it includes a complete zlib decoder).
Bug reports will be addressed.
A few more image formats may be added in the future (e.g. BMP and PSD).
