This is pretty interesting: demographic info by zipcode from 2000. Here's some of the data for a friend's SF zipcode (94110):
White population: 39,110
Black population: 3,164
American Indian population: 754
Asian population: 9,189
Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander population: 274
Some other race population: 17,397
Two or more races population: 4,745

Median age: 32.9
Average household size: 2.81
Median household income (1999): $53,795

Here's some concrete numbers about my zipcode (94606) that I already knew non-concretely:

White population: 7,824
Black population: 10,079
American Indian population: 316
Asian population: 16,418
Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander population: 125
Some other race population: 5,039
Two or more races population: 2,071

Median age: 30.8
Average household size: 2.77
Median household income (1999): $32,273

(I'm not sure why Hispanic isn't broken out explicitly? Compare to the age demographics for 94601, which is more Hispanic--the average household size jumps by one. Then look at 94602 for an area that skews older. Or go explore your own city!)
