movie log ENDS

I've written over 250 capsule movie reviews here since I started my Netflix subscription over a year ago. While it was a good experience--it forced me to spend some time reconsidering movies after the fact, and to apply some critical thinking skills--it has for a long time been "work"; I haven't really been enjoying doing it. So I am going to stop now.

I will still post comments about movies I found particularly comment-worthy.

Today I saw Once Upon a Time in Mexico in a theater, because I felt like I should for once see a Robert Rodriguez movie in a theater, especially a "big action" one. Having seen it, I can only say I would have gotten just as much out of seeing it on a small screen. At least there were more bits I found funny than there were in Desperado (or Spy Kids, for that matter). But overall, the plot sat still for far too long, and the climax didn't feel climactic, and the denoument felt over-extended.
