Saw The Incredibles today, since it was so widely recommended. I thought it was pretty good, but not (sigh) incredible; not as good as most Pixar movies. Of course I'm no fan of The Iron Giant; I don't know if that's related (I certainly wasn't sitting there during the movie going 'damn that Brad Bird'; I'd pretty much forgotten until the end credits). A few examples of things that disappointed me: it was more action than humor, and the action didn't seem that good to me (some of it seemed kind of formulaic, I rarely felt a sense of place and instead felt we were just being rushed from moment to moment--Elastigirl's conundrum was a good exception), and it didn't quite feel like this was superheroes done right (I know it's parody, but this Pixar, I think you know what I mean): e.g. if your superpower is being really fast, and 80% of the time people can (basically inexplicably) keep up with you, well, sigh. Also, umm, ending? Umm, callous killer much?
