- double-click where your point of interest is
- change the zoom level substantially by clicking to a new one, say, 5 to 8 notches up
- double-click where your point of interest is
- change the zoom level to max zoom
- if your point of interest is onscreen, you've successfully googledrilled!
This is pretty much impossible to do without practice, which is why it's more of a useless skill to develop than something practical. (It doesn't actually take much practice; just proceed through the steps backwards and memorize something recognizable about the area you need to double-click.) Currently I can googledrill to my apartment building, my mother's house, and Edward's Air Force Base.
